Insieme ♥ Gnocchi Heaven | Melbourne Eats

The first night spent in Melbourne was also the day of my childhood friend Steph's birthday I had everything planned out for dinner already. We had Italian for dinner which was only a 5 minute walk from our apartment, talk about convenience aye! and super reasonable priced too! It was located on a super busy and popular food street called Toorak Road. 

Once we got into the restaurant we were taken to our seats shortly and then we took our time looking at what they had on the menu. When it comes to Italian food I usually go for pasta but this time I decided to go for their Chicken Medallion dish. Although the girls and I ordered our individual dishes we did share them in the end so I did get to taste all the dishes that we had ordered. 

We ordered 5 dishes in total and the first to come was this dish with four balls of risotto-like textures on the inside with cheese served with some rocket and balsamic vinegar. Although this dish seemed simple the highlight of this was definitely their rocket! I have no idea what their vinegar contained but it made the rocket taste more delectable! Even my friend Virginia who hates her veggies enjoyed it! 

The dish I order that night was their special "Chicken Medallion". The chicken was quite tender but I wished the sauce had a bit more salt to it. 

Virginia, AKA the meatlover (literally) ordered the Pork Belly dish and boy did it look amazing! There was a small side of salad on it which she skipped out on and tucked into the meat! The pork was tender and juicy, except the skin wasn't as crunchy as I thought I'd be. Other than that this was quite nice!

Julia had ordered their Fettuccini, Garlic Prawns, Garden Peas Pasta! The flavors were light and simple, easy to have for dinner if you're looking for something not too heavy. 

What won my heart that night though was the most unexpected dish ever. It was there Gnocchi, Baked Ricotta, Pumpkin, Spinach with Burnt Butter Sauce. I've never enjoyed gnocchi ever, maybe it's because Sydney doesn't have any great gnocchi as they are either too dry, doughy or chewy, hence I have given that dish the boot! But HALLELUJAH! This gnocchi was so soft and fluffy which instantly melted into your mouth and was incredibly flavorful. I highly recommend getting this dish and only this dish if you ever head to Insieme. 

Overall we all had a fabulous night as the food and company was great! I remember the bill wasn't too bad either as we were about to leave and head back to our apartment, where our surprise awaited Stephanie. The surprise was a delicious birthday cake which we had ordered 2 weeks in advance! And she loved it! We also watched Magic Mike that night and boy were there lots of buns going around!

[DAILY UPDATE 191114]

This morning I have finally finished my long-awaited ONE exam! Once my exam was over I went to my appointment for a nice facial to treat myself! It was such a relaxing facial as I almost fell asleep! Once I got home my Dad just got home from the airport (WELCOME HOME DAD) and we shall be eating out tonight!

No Sugar Treats (ó﹏ò｡)

Did you know that on average, Australians consume approximately 54 kilograms of sugar per year –the equivalent of 37 teaspoons per person, per day! When the World Health Organisation recommend that sugar only contributes to five per cent of the recommended daily energy intake – or around six teaspoons a day.

Well Naturally has developed and communicated the benefits of “No Sugar Added” snacking. This makes it clearer and easier for health-conscious people to treat themselves better. In my case I'm able to munch on a few more blocks without feeling bad about it! 

I'm a dark chocolate kind of person and I enjoy the richer flavors of the cocoa. Well Naturally's dark chocolate block definitely has that taste there. 

Well Naturally's milk chocolate flavor doesn't taste as your usual sweetened chocolate as there is no sugar but it's not too bad. It smells a bit like caramel to me~

Their fruit and nut flavor is so far my favorite just because it has that extra sweetness from the fruits and nuts inside it, as I'm not use to cutting off all the sugars from my chocolate just yet!

I for one enjoy eating chocolate every once in a while to treat myself but the amount of sugar inside them is not ideal, especially when you're trying to get fitter and shed some weight, so these babies are the ideal no sugar sweet treats for me!

Good afternoon my fellow readers! It such a beautiful day outside here but today I won't be heading out as I decided I shall start cleaning out half my wardrobe into bags to give away to charity or my cousin! I may possibly post a few things up here (all new/unworn) to see who wants to catch a bargain!

HELLO SAM | Melbourne Eats (*´(00)`)’

I'm totally procrastinating right now, so over studying even though I've only done half a chapter worth of work *sighs*. Since I've already left my pen and paper on the other side of the table I might as well talk about my favorite place in Melbourne(so far) for burgers!

I first went to "Hello Sam" during my winter trip to Melbourne this year and it was my first meal of the day since touchdown. The girls and I were starving once we threw our stuff into the apartment as our flight was delayed numerous times making our stomachs grow hungry by the minute. Thankfully there was a burger shop right around the corner from our apartment and without further a due we rush towards the smell of burgers and fries!

Once we got to the shop I fixed my eyes upon their menu and instantly saw a burger that struck to me! The Spicy Sam burger, simply Sam, with jalapeno and spicy chipotle mayo. I quickly placed my order along with a side of beer-battered onion rings while the girls took their time deciding which burger to get. We decided to sit outside in the sun even though it was a bit chilly that afternoon but it was nothing once I had food down my tummy!

Once the burgers started to come out one by one, as usual my ritual is the camera eats first, even though the smell of burgers made my stomach growl even more. Once photo sessions were over it was time to pig in! Without regards I just took my burger in between my two hands and munched my way through the juicy meat, spicy jalapenos and the crunchy fresh greens. The smile of satisfaction was wiped across my face and I couldn't stop eating this amazing burger. The flavors and textures was just so right!

As for the onion rings I shared them amongst the girls and we enjoyed this little snack as we planned out a few places that we'd want to visit throughout the trip. The batter of the onion rings were thicker than usual but I suppose it was to keep the onion nice and moist. 

I was messaged by the Hello Sam instagram page to come in for free fries! Although I carefully planned to pop by on the last day before we headed off to the airport, things just got out of hand and I didn't get a chance to try another burger and their fries. Although it was unfortunate for myself, I'm not too fess over it as I'm already planning my next trip to Melbourne already and I cannot wait to grab onto another delicious burger and this time along side with their beer-battered fries instead!
