Creamy Attention

I love wearing strong eye makeup when it comes to going to parties and events!! And ILLAMASQUA makes one of the smoothest creamiest eye shadows!!
ILLAMASQUA creates bold bright makeup making it unique and different from other brands! Here i have their 4-Colour Liquid Metal Palette which i had purchase during last year Boxing day sales in Sydney's CBD Myers. If you haven't read my Boxing day hual blog post read it "here" now :)

I love their packaging for this palette as it has that slight edge feel but still looking very chic! To me it gives of a some-what vintage fee to it.

Here are the four metalic shades inside the palette! The shades included are: (top) Enrapture & Surge, (bottom) Solstice & Phenomena.
Dipped fingers into the palette
First swatch on the back of my hand, second swatch on my wrist!!
4-Colour Liquid Metal Pallete Ratings:

Colours:
The colours are absolutely gorgeous!! They are really pigmented and stay true to what you see them as! My favorite colour would be Solstice which gives off that vintage gold colour!!

Formula:
I simply love the creamy texture of these cream shadows!! But once you apply it over your skin it feels like powered eye shadow which blends super easily!!

Cost:
This would be considered more on the higher end as the cost is no joke. According to the ILLAMASQUA website this product cost just under AUD$50. But luckily for me i got it during on sale so i did not have to pay that price (but i don't remember the exact price i got it for, sorry).

Overall:
I can't wait to use this palette to parties and events!! I must say that ILLAMASQUA does make the most bold and unique makeup ever and i absolutely love how they are so different to other brands! Never be afraid to be bold!

Bring colours to your eyes!

We all want our eye make up to stand out from the crowd when we go out partying and we know that pictures are a must at these events!! So how can we make our eye makeup seem more vibrant??
The Canmake Eyeshadow Base is the way to go!! It blends easily and brings out the vibrant colours of your eyeshadow!!
It's creamy texture has the right degree of softness which prevents creasing. It feels moist but as you blend it out it turns into a soft dry texture.

When i first applied an eye shadow without the base i could see that it was light. When i applied the eye shadow over canmake's eye shadow base i could not tell the difference between the two at all, and here i was thinking i wasted money for something i didn't really need after all!
But to my surprise!!! I the contrasts of their colours had a huge difference under the camera!!

Canmake Eye Shadow Base Ratings:

Effect:
Now, when i have more eye makeup for events i can rest assure that it will not crease and make me stand out in photos!!

Formula:
The formula of this product is super soft and silky!! Super easy to blend onto the skin just using your fingers!!

Overall:
I absolutely love this item!! Keeps my makeup from smudging and allows my eye shadows to reveal their true colours!!

L♥VE & SUPPORT

So when i was back in Hong Kong for vacation i went and had a photo shoot with a friend! And as promised here are a few of the pictures taken on the day with some behind the scene pictures too!! So i got to the photo shoot location around 9am in the morning where i was to get ready with all the makeup, hair and outfit preparations. All the pictures are in their original form but only a few have some colour's changed, especially the behind the scene pictures!
***WARNING: heavy pictures
The table filled with items which all belonged to our hair/makeup artist's
gorgeous makeup done, now to style the hair!
hair & makeup finished
Of course having such amazing makeup applied onto my face i just had to take some luvo's for myself!! So throughout the whole photo session i had taken quite a few luvo's while our photographers set up the lights and all!
The first look was a more youthful, fun and cheeky look! The denim shorts i'm wearing is my absolute favorite!!! I think this was my favorite look of the entire day!!

100% unedited!! i simply loved it so i didn't change anything!!
enjoy being young and cheeky!
The second look we changed into a girly romantic look! Here i wore a floral dress which i had bought from forever21 (and it was the last one in my size!!)

feel different, be different
(Simply changing the colours can change a picture so much, the original picture is the one upside down!)
mirror magic
For the third look we did a contrast of the classic black and white! I wore a rice white elegant dress but soon changed into my friend, Cynthia's white dress to match her outfit better.

My fourth and final look of the day was a more elegant, unique and different style. The dress i was wearing was actually a maxi skirt. I really liked the hat~~
After a tiring day at the photo shoot i was really looking foward to all the photo's we took that day!!

Night time catch up at Arisun「阿里山」

Sometimes we just finish uni at a later hour or want to catch up with old friends. So i like to go down to Arisun which is located on Dixon Street in Sydney CBD.
So far i have been here twice already and i'm really loving the atmosphere here! The food is nice and they also have an outside area where i love to sit!

Arisun Ratings:

Location:
I think it's located really well! It's on the end of Dixon street from Chinatown. It also has an outside and inside area to choose from.

Cost:
The menu is quite reasonable priced if you go with like 3 or more people if not just a dinner for 2 might be a bit pricey

So last thursday (15/03/2012) i went down to Arisun with friends and we had a enjoyable night with tonnes of catching up to do. This is what we ordered that night.
Lemon soju
Lemon Soju Ratings:

Taste:
I couldn't really taste the soju at all so to me it just tasted like lemonade.

Cost:
It cost about $23 for this so it was a bit expensive in my opinion as it's not really worth the price.

Overall:
I wouldn't really recommend but overall it's alright.
kimchi & ??
So one reason i like going to a Korean restaurant is that they usually give side dishes whilst waiting for your dishes to come out, for free. So that night we only got kimchi (maybe because they ran out of the other side dishes?) & next to the kimchi we had no idea what was it was!! So we tried to ask the staff but we couldn't really hear them and so we had to guess. In the end we figured that they were actually napkins and you just through it into a cup of water at the end.

Vegetable with noodle platter
Vegetable with noodle platter Ratings:

Taste:
This had various vegetables in this dish and had a hint of wasabi in it. It's quite a refreshing dish and so it was a good starter.

Cost:
This dish cost about $28 which is quite alright since it was quite a big dish and it was filling for four people that night.

Overall:
I would recommend this dish to start you off.

One of their top 5 chicken dish!- Chicken strips with shallots & wasabi mayo
Chicken strips with shallots & wasabi mayo Ratings:

Taste:
The chicken is not tough and taste really nice with the wasabi mayo topped with the shallots!! But i think if you eat just the chicken then it's quite plain and not really worth the price.

Cost:
It cost $30 for a whole plateful which is really filling because there are so many pieces!!!

Overall:
I would recommend this dish because it is one of their top 5 chicken dishes!!! I can't wait to try all the other flavors as the other chicken dishes are all deep fried chicken wings or drumsticks with different flavors which include original, sweet chilli and soy sauce.

Shanghai Stories 1938「上海年華」

Shanghai Stories 1938 is a great place to have tea which is located in Chatswood. I mostly go with my mum when i feel like eating good dumplings for tea.
The atmosphere has a fusion of old world style in a modern elegant restaurant.
They have a few different menu which include the shanghai stories 1983 menu, shanghai dimsim menu and yumcha order list.

Shanghai Stories 1983 ,上海年華, Ratings:

Location:
In my opinion i think it has started off in a good location, but i think they should have a franchise in the city for more customers. But other than that i'm pretty happy with the location since it's closer to me.

Cost:
Everything is quite reasonable priced and they have different menus at different times!

So here are a few things i have tried out from Shanghai Stories 1983. The most famous and popular dish to eat in a Shanghai restuarant (or in Shanghai itself) is of course their dumplings!!!

Steamed pork & broth dumplings (xiao long bao- 小龍包)
Off their dimsim menu
top:  小龍包
bottom: Drunken Chicken
Off their yum cha menu (11-3pm)
Xiao Long Bao Ratings:

Taste:
So far the best dumplings i have eaten in Sydney! I reckon it beats Din Tai Fung's dumpling (and they are famous for their dumplings!!). Reason being is that when it comes to eating steamed pork dumplings i am a very picky eater about the skin(the outer pastry) and the meat. Din Tai Fung's dumplings have very thick skin and so the twist at the top sometimes will not be cooked properly and taste powdery and their meat is just plain average. In contrast, Shanghai stories 1983 dumplings are simply amazing!! Their skin is thin enough and cook perfectly!! (Of course you can't compare them to e.g. Hong Kong's Din Tai Fung)

Cost:
I've eaten their dumplings from both their dimsim menu and yumcha menu. On the dimsim menu it is AUD$6.80 for 6 pieces and on their yumcha menu it is AUD$3.80 for 4 pieces so it's slightly cheaper during the yumcha period. In general i think it's reasonably priced!

Overall:
Definitely recommend this dish to all you dumpling lovers out there!!! I love to eat mine dipped in vinegar accompanied by the ginger shreds. My dumplings must come with these two items if not it's just incomplete!!

Drunken Chicken Ratings:   Marinated Chicken in Rice Win

Taste:
I think this is one of the best drunken chicken i have eaten in Sydney! They broth is really nice and the chicken is really smooth to eat.

Cost:
This dish is on their yumcha menu and cost AUD$9.80. Use to be AUD$6.80 when it just opened!!

Overall:
Left: some tofu??
Right" Pan fried pork buns
Tofu Ratings:

Taste:
The tofu were actually quite tasteless. The only flavor you could taste were the fried onion shreds on top.

Cost: n/a
I'm sorry i couldn't find this on their menu anymore so i can't remember the exact amount.

Overall:

Pan fried pork bun Ratings:

Taste:

The bread was not as crispy at the bottom like it's meant to be so it didn't really live up to my expectations.

Cost:
They have this on both their dimsim and yumcha menu which is AUD$7.80 for 6 pieces.

Overall:
I don't think i would really recommend this dish since I think New Shanghai has better pan fried pork buns.

Beef with dan dan noodle soup
Beef with dan dan noodle soup Ratings:

Taste:
The soup is not very chilli but as you keep eating you will start to get that numb tingly feeling on your tongue so it's quite unique. There wasn't much beef in it though which was quite disappointing.

Cost:
This dish cost AUD$9.80 which i think is quite cheap since it quite a big bowl!!

Overall:
This dish is not too bad and quite feeling so i would recommend to give this dish a try.
