FCBA x Haven Specialty Coffee (≧∇≦)/

A couple weeks ago I was invited to lunch with the FCBA community at Haven Specialty Coffee to try their some of new and signature dishes.

We started off with refreshing drinks, where I ordered their iced tea mocktail, Perfume ($6), which consisted of rose, lime, honey and cold brewed jasmine tea. It was very refreshing and delicious. 

Amazing Kim-Cheese Waffle ($16.50)
The spicy Korean kimchi stuffed waffle with Parmesan cheese, sesame, a scoop of an award-winning vanilla bean ice-cream was quite an interesting dish! I wasn't really sure about the ice-cream but somehow it went well with the spicy sourness of the kimchi. 

Scallop on the Red Sea Risotto ($23)

The red wine risotto with black barley, radicchio lettuce, celery puree, prawn crumbs and pan-fried scallops was quite a hearty and lovely dish. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the flavors were lovely. 

Waffle Choco Beets 
I absolutely loved this chocolate waffle as it was topped with dark chocolate ganache, beetroot puree, kumquat, blood orange sorbet, pecan praline and honeycomb. The natural sweetness of the beetroot puree and drizzle chocolate paired very well with the sourness of the kumquat and blood orange sorbet. It was a nice balance of sweet and sour. 

Chicken Attack ($22)
The next dish that arrived was their smokey chicken maryland with quinoa, roasted taro, banana fritters, okra and spicy green sauce. I loved the sourness and spiciness of the green sauce as this went very well with the chicken and quinoa. 

Steak Sandwich

The scotch fillet was served medium-rare with crumbed field mushrooms, rustic onions, chipotle aioli and house-made bbq sauce. This sandwich is one of their popular dishes as their meat is tender and juicy. 

Overall, I had a wonderful time trying out all these dishes, as the first time I came to Haven Specialty Coffee I was not impressed at all since they first opened. However since then they have definitely improved and can't wait to see what new dishes they will come up with next season.
