Melbourne Eats | The Vertue of the Coffee Drink (ノ≧ڡ≦)

When visiting Melbourne, brunching is inevitable! One fine morning we went to a cute little brunch spot in Carlton with my boyfriend and his mum, who works in Melbourne most of the time so she knows all the good eating spots. We were told the food here was really good, so of course we had to try it.

The Vertue of the Coffee Drink Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Specialty Hot Chocolate: Mocha (Regular, $4.50)
To start off the morning we all got our individual drink, I got my usual mocha, which was hearty, warm and had the perfect amount of sweetness from the chocolate.

Tamarind Prawn Toast ($24)
The toast was covered in a crunchy layer of sesame, with marinated tamarind prawns, fried egg, betel leaf, roasted peanuts and young coconut apple salad. The moment I took a bite, I was beautiful! The flavors and textures were just perfect! This was my favorite dish of the day, which I recommended to a mate of mine who was going to Melbourne the following week, she too enjoyed this thoroughly.

Winter Mushroom ($22)
The boyfriend's dish was made of new season mushroom, kale, poached egg, house baked corn bread, truffle foam, beetroot puree and porcini powder. It was a homey-hearty vegetarian and gluten-free dish and tasted wonderful!

Fennel Crusted Salmon ($26)
The crispy skin Tasmanian salmon with parsnip puree, heirloom carrots and pea powder, was cook to perfection where the salmon flaked beautifully when cutting through it. The flavors of winter definitely came through the vegetables of various texture.

Mac'n'Cheese Croquette w/ Beetroot Puree ($6)
Now you can actually get this dish as a main, which is called the "Return of the Mac.." however we ordered the small side of the Mac'n'Cheese Croquette instead as we all got our individual dishes and it would be way too much food for us. This was probably my least favorite dish, as it was quite bland, despite the beetroot puree.

Overall, I would highly recommend coming to this cafe for their Tamarind Prawn Toast as this was my favorite dish of the day, plus they have amazing service and a well-lit cafe where you can take the most amazing photo's in natural lighting.
