Spring Street Social // New Asian Tapas Menu🥢

Earlier this week I was invited to attend the media launch of the new Asian tapas menu at Spring Street Social located in Bondi Junction. Ever since they re-opened under a new management one year ago, they have brought on a new Chef Kago Fong who has worked in top restaurants in Hong Kong and his mission is to test the boundaries of creativity bringing mouth-watering Asian fusion tapas to the Eastern suburbs.

We started the night off their 'Old mama spicy nuts' which were fried peanuts seasoned with a home-blend chilli oil and Chinese peppers. They were crunchy and had a nice punch of flavour to keep the taste buds craving for more. The wagyu beef tataki with Asian chimichurri was one of my favourites that night as the beef was tender and well-marinated in their terriyaki and sesame chimichurri. The buns for their mini pork sliders were a little too greasy once I bit into the bun however the filling was quite nice as it had pork floss. Another dish that I really enjoyed was their piping hot crab claw with siracha mayo. Somehow I missed out on the prawn and pork wontons (I was probably at the bar, tehehe) so I won't be able to comment on those however there was a lot of XO sauce on their steam XO scallops, which I thoroughly enjoyed as XO is one of my favourite Chinese condiments.

While we waited for the next batch of dishes to come out of the kitchen and for the foodie crowd to finish taking photos at the media table, I caught up with a few old foodie friends as well as new ones over a few drinks at the bar where we ordered a few cocktails such as their Minty Fresh, Skinny Pina Colada and Springs Apple Pie. We also had a few shots while the next couple of dishes started rolling out of the kitchen which included their fried tofu with 7 spices, truffle fried rice and the deep fried cream cheese dumpling with dark chocolate sauce. Dessert was also on my favourite list that night!

In addition to the great food, drinks and friends there was also live music performances by Ellie Cullington and her band as well as DJ Jade Le Flay for the whole night. I personally love live performances as it brings together the people to enjoy a more fun and vibrant atmosphere. So if you're around the area and are looking for a night to chill with your mates why not heading over to Spring Street Social for their great food, copious drinks and amazing live entertainment.
