The last time I blogged about Kusuka was about a year ago and it was my first time going there too(read it here). I recently came back to Kusuka at their newer Sussex St location which was relatively close to my previous workplace. I came here with Florence over the weekend when our original plans had fallen through so we were left super hungry and ready to eat anything that would be fast!

Melbourne Eats | The Vertue of the Coffee Drink (ノ≧ڡ≦)
When visiting Melbourne, brunching is inevitable! One fine morning we went to a cute little brunch spot in Carlton with my boyfriend and his mum, who works in Melbourne most of the time so she knows all the good eating spots. We were told the food here was really good, so of course we had to try it.

Cavalier Specialty Café // Truffling around (●♡∀♡)
It that time of the year again, truffle season! Last year I went to a few places hunting for delicious truffle dishes, so of course this year there is no exception. First place to fulfill my truffle craves was Cavalier Specialty Cafe located in between Crows Nest and St Leonard. I invited Stephanie since last year she wasn't able to come due to work, so she was quite excited to try it out. You can read last year post on this cafe "here".

Local Mbassy // Brunching Review ¯\_( ◉ 3 ◉ )_/¯
Finally caught up with my girlies, Stephy & Virginia for a weekend brunch session. We originally were going to go to Qube on Bay, but they were closed that day, so we ended up going to Local Mbassy. It's a cute little cafe located in Ultimo, which is a quick 10-15 minute walk from Central station.

Girls night at Cho Cho San (๑╹ڡ╹๑)
A few weeks ago I headed to Cho Cho San for a casual girls night out with a few of my friends, Stephy, Julia and Virginia. It was a warm summer evening and it was also all our first time going to Cho Cho San. We were excited to see what made this place a popular spot amongst the foodie world here in the Kings Cross.

Beauty at Lake Wakatipu // Feasting on the BEST Burgers ever!! ♡♡+.゚(→ε←*)゚+.゚
For the rest of day one in Queenstown, we decided to check out the area. We came across Lake Wakatipu and just enjoyed the beauty of it all!
The air was so fresh too so it was great to just sit there and watch the clouds move by and enjoy the view.
As the sun began to set, it was time to hunt for food again! We came across a huge line so we decided to check it out. We figured that it was Ferg Burger and everyone was eating it so we decided to line up to try it out too! (This was before we knew that it was actually a famous burger shop!).
Then one of the staff approached us, handing their burger menu and we decided to google the place. That's when we found out that Ferg Burger, is the most famous burger shop around town and many who come to Queenstown say it is a MUST TRY!!
They do not have any franchise stores anywhere else, as they only run in Queenstown!
During peak hour it can take up to 40 minutes to an hour just to place your order. Then it is another 20-30 minutes for your burger to be made.
The water was so blue it was absolutely beautiful and breathtaking at the same time!

My partner got Mr Big Stuff (NZ$16), which came with 1/2lbs of prime New Zealand beef, topped with melted cheddar cheese, American streaky bacon & bbq sauce, lettuce, tomato sauce, red onion and aioli. This burger was packed full of heavy flavours which burst in your mouth. It was incredibly delicious, succulent and juicy! Highly recommend!
Whereas I ordered the Holier than Thou (NZ$11.50), with tempured tofu with a spicy satay, coconut and coriander sauce, lettuce, tomato, red onion, cucumber, snow pea shoots and aioli. This one gives you that extra kick with the spicy satay and refreshing coconut and coriander sauce. It is truly unique and delicious, plus it's vegetarian too!! It is a great burger to enjoy which is both filling and amazingly yum!
Just naming and listing the burgers' ingredients already have me drooling and you can only much imagine how good they taste! After dinner we headed back to our lodge and had an early night in.

[210616]
Good evening everyone! Today has been a great day as I had 3 interviews and also managed to squeeze in an hour session at the gym! This is pretty much the reason why I haven't been blogging much the past 3 weeks as I've been bombarding myself with a couple of interviews a day, leaving no time for rest or play. I do apologise for this guys!!
However, while I was at the gym, I finally got a call back from a job position I was really interested in and I'm hoping to get that job!
Also, I might do a job-related blog entry soon and I hope you will find it helpful as I will cover topics such as interviews, where to start looking and finding "the" job, etc.

Black Water Rafting // Brunching at The District ⤴︎ε=ε=(ง ˃̶͈̀ᗨ˂̶͈́)۶ ⤴︎
The following morning, after our hiking adventure in Te Anu, we went back to our Black Water Rafting tour to see if the we were able to go onto the tour. Luckily for us the weather was good enough for us to explore the caves on our tour!
First step was to learn how to jump into the water with our donut tube! I was first to demonstrate how it was done! You can see how happy I am in the photo!!
Next my boyfriend and I had to demonstrate how we were to form a link when we got into the caves. By this point we were just super excited!!
Now this is a photo we took just before we started our adventures and I'm looking super duper excited whereas my boyfriend pulled the "uhh...you sure" face. We had an amazing time exploring the caves and finding glowworms along the way. However it does get quite chilly down there, but our wetsuits do keep us warm! Our tour guides also shared their chocolate fish snacks with us as a treat and source of energy to keep us going!
Once our tour was over, we took one last photo with our group, who were actually a tour group from Germany! We managed to grab our tour photo's from their tour guide Ingrid who was so kind to share them with us! After this photo it was time to shower and warm up with some soup.
I ordered a Chai Spicy latte and this is what made me fell in love with chai latte's! Ever since I came back from New Zealand my go to coffee's are either a mocha or chai latte! It is just so good! It has that perfect blend of sweet and spicy, plus it is velvety smooth too. I highly recommend trying it if you're past by Hamilton!
As for lunch, both my boyfriend and I had ordered a salad each. Both were presented beautifully yet prices are very similar to Sydney's aka. quite pricey.
The boyfriend ordered the Chicken salad(NZ$18) which came with cos lettuce, avocado, sundried tomato, pancetta, shaved fennel and parmesan (G.F). This salad was very flavourful as the dressing was practically mixed in just before the dish was served. The avocado had coated the chicken, giving it a butter smooth finish and the lettuce was crunchy and fresh too.
I had ordered off their Lunch Special menu and got the Smoked duck and watercress salad (NZ$21), cranberries, cashews and orange with raspberry vinaigrette.
My salad was definitely more colourful compared to my boyfriend's Chicken salad, and taste-wise it was beautiful too! I absolutely loved the different textures on the plate. I wish the duck had a more smokier taste, but it was well cooked and the flavours of the sweet fruits made this dish more refreshing!

We started making our way back to Auckland and along the way we decided to have a lunch pit stop in Hamilton.
We went to a cute cafe called The District for brunch. We haven't brunch-ed at all during this trip so it was definitely exciting for me and my boyfriend.

Matcha Crossiant // Top Impression Bakery (•ө•)♡
Here's some matcha news for your Monday blues! Over the weekend I met up with my girlie's, Stephy and Virginia, as we hadn't met up in a while due to our busy working and studying schedules! We decided to go try the instafamous Matcha croissants at the Top Impression Bakery in Wolli Creek.
There was quite a queue when we arrived, as people were either buying takeaway or eating in, it was busy! We decided to grab lunch, since we got there around 12:30 in the afternoon. We all ordered our own meals and had to pre-order our matcha croissants as they just sold out, but were in the process of making a fresh batch.
Virginia ordered their TOP IMPRESSION Mixed Platter ($14.50), which came with smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, chorizo sausage, feta salad, tomato, avocado salsa and sourdough.
Stephy ordered their Smoke Salmon Florentine on sourdough ($10.80), which came with a poached egg, mixed salad and mayonnaise.
After finishing our meal, the croissants were finally ready after 1.5 hours!! They had the best freshly baked buttery aroma when they were placed in front of us and we couldn't wait to try them out, but first...PHOTOS! Matcha Croissants ($5/each)
When I cut opened the croissants, the matcha filling was just sitting nicely in the centre without any of it falling out. The croissant itself was very crispy on the outer surface and the matcha filling was quite nice. However, I wouldn't say I was crazy in love with this matcha product. I guess the main reason was, yes it had heaps of matcha filling and all, but I feel there wasn't enough of that matcha intensity. I couldn't taste the matcha in the croissant bread itself as the buttery-ness was more overpowering that you start to get a tad bored of the flavours.
Overall their lunch dishes were nothing special in flavour or appearance. You can definitely give those a miss unless you are really hungry because you have to wait for a new batch of matcha croissants to be made.
As for these #instafamous matcha croissant, is it worth the hype? To me, NO! I know it is a tough comparison, but in Japan I had the BEST ever tasting Hoji-cha (roasted tea) flavoured croissant which had the perfect balance of buttery-ness and hoji-cha! The croissant itself was soft and fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outer layers, but still bringing forth the aromatic and flavourful tastes of hoji-cha. These matcha croissant just don't do the same, sorry!
However, I can understand why it would be popular, it is after all, the first and currently, only bakery, that are doing matcha croissants with matcha filling. In the future, I hope they do a black sesame flavoured one, as that will be the time I will be back.
